The eagerly anticipated second Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction 2024 is scheduled to take place on December 9 in Mumbai. This auction will see a total of 165 players vying for positions, with each of the five franchises—Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, UP Warriorz, and Royal Challengers Bangalore—looking to fill 30 slots, including nine for overseas players.

Among the 165 players in contention, 104 are Indian, while 61 hail from overseas, including 15 players from associate nations. The roster comprises 56 capped players and 109 uncapped players.

As the teams strive to enhance their squads, several prominent non-Indian players, such as Chamari Athapaththu, Deandra Dottin, and Shabnim Ismail, have been shortlisted among the 61 candidates for the auction. Dottin and Kim Garth lead the pack with a top bracket reserve price of INR 50 lakh, while four players are listed in the INR 40 lakh bracket.

Heading into the auction, the Gujarat Giants boast the most substantial purse at INR 5.95 crore, having released a significant portion of their squad. In contrast, the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, hold the lowest amount with INR 2.1 crore remaining in their purse, and Delhi Capitals have just three slots available for the auction.
